Conducting Research using University of Maryland’s

“On-Line database”

Web Databases University of Maryland University College subscribes to more than 70 individual online databases which include journal articles, newspaper stories, company financial information, association directories, and encyclopedia entries and which can be accessed by current UMUC students, faculty, and staff via the World Wide Web. Several of the databases contain full text of the materials, but not all journals provide full-text records to those databases. The records that do not include the full text of articles include citation listings and often abstracts of the articles.

In order to access these online databases, go to the UMUC Office of Information and Library Services home page (which also includes useful links such as how to cite information found on the Web) at http://www.umuc.edu/library/library.shtml and click on Log in to Web Databases/MdUSA. You will come to a secure form where you will be asked to enter your last name and Social Security Number. If you are recognized as an authorized user, you will be connected to the Web databases page.

If after surfing through the online help you still cannot access the databases then click on the “Ask a Question” icon at the top of the page.  Here you will find either ways to contact the Help Desk by either phone or e-mail
