Collegiate Associate Professor
University of Maryland, European Division
My home is located inSummersville Missouri, which is located in the southeastern corner of the state between Springfield and Rolla. I am have been living in Germany essentially since the summer of 1992. My family now resides in Mackembach near the Ramstein AFB.
I initially accepted a fulltime position as a collegiate associate professor with the European division of University of Maryland University College during the summer of 2000 after retiring from the USAF. My family enjoyed living in Germany and teaching a primarily military population was quite enjoyable. The changing world situation starting shortly after my retirement resulted in my being invited back to serve in DOD early in 2005 when I joined the Spine and Neurosurgery Clinic at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. My current duties only allow me to teach an occasional class for UMUC as adjunct faculty, and although demanding I look forward to these oppertunities..
I have a diverse academic and professional background founded in life sciences, medicine, and information systems. I received my initial trining through University of Columbia Missouri receiving National Certification as an EMT in the mid 70's. After receiving my certification I worked in the Texas County Memorial Hospital with duties in the Emergeny Department, Ambulance Service, and inpatient wards.
Desiring a career change and to return to college I joined the Air Force during the summer of 1979 where I received training in electronics and the maintenance of Air Traffic Control Radar Systems at Keesler Air Force Base Mississippi. After graduation I was invited to remain on the faculty where I Served for approximately 3 years. During my off duty time I attended the local junior college and completed the requirements necessary for acceptance into the Air Force PA program through the University of Oklahoma. I graduated from the program in June of 1985 and was assigned as a staff provider in the Primary Care Clinic at Keesler Mississippi. Since then I have worked in both Family Medicine and Emergency Services until the last few years of my AF career where I worked in preventative health and military administration.
My current hobbies include European history and travel with my wife and 8 year old son.
Have a nice day.
